The wait is almost over! Activison Blizzard announced today that Diablo 3 will be released exactly two months or 61 days from today on May 15, 2012. Read the Cliff's Notes version below, or click the link at the bottom of the story for the press release.
Digital copies of Diablo 3 can be preordered via Battle.net and retail copies will be available in the USA, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on May 15. The game will be made digitally available to players in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil via Battle.net and of course, digital copies will be available in the territories getting retail copies. June 7 is the retail drop date for Latin America and Russia.
The game will retail for $59.99 in the USA (for both the digital and physical versions). A $99.99 collector's edition also features a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray/DVD two-disc set, the Diablo III soundtrack CD, a 208-page Art of Diablo III book, a 4 GB USB soulstone (including full versions of Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction®) and corresponding Diablo skull base, as well as exclusive in-game content for Diablo III, World of Warcraft®, and StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty®.
Until May 1, World of Warcraft players can also reserve a free digital copy (and other goodies) by signing up for a World or Warcraft Annual Pass.
