Mega Man Creator Hates His Job
Posted on October 13, 2010 by OG

It seems like it was only yesterday when Capcom’s R&D head, Kenji Inafune, was talking about the demise of the Japanese video game industry and that Japanese developers are making terrible games. Well he’s back at it again, and this time he saying he hates his job.

In a recent interview, Inafune talked about making the impossible possible, how that helps game developers grow as creators and how he hates his job. "I hate it! I want to retire early and take it easy, was his answer when the interviewer made the statement that he must love his job since he was talking about the problems developers go through to create a quality product. He continues to say that is why he is working so hard; if he likes his work then he could take it slow, have a bit role in the development of the game and still get a high paying salary. "There are loads of creators like that," Inafune explains. "But I'm not like that. If things are difficult while they are doing it, they can become a leader and a creator."

Granted he is responsible for making sure that all of Capcom’s IPs are in good hands, that they do well, and even getting hands on with the development of the games. Yes he is under pressure from the higher ups and from competition from the Western developers, but isn’t bit much to say that he hates his job? We all know that he’s in the industry to make a product that sells and not to have fun, but when you enjoy doing your job it doesn’t feel like work anymore. Maybe he feels he needs a change, or maybe it’s something entirely different. Whatever the case may be let’s hope that it doesn’t affect Capcom’s and the rest of the Japanese game industry and they continue to have a presence in the gaming community.

What do you think of the Gamestop settlement in California?

Gamestop got exactly what it deserved. They've been screwing over gamers for too long.
The lawsuit was stupid. Consumers should have known better, and now, Gamestop will start reducing prices of trade-ins.
