PETA says Mario game was a joke, blame gamers for not getting it

You have to love it when a big organization does some backpedaling. PETA has come out saying that the Mario game they made, "Super Tanooki Skin 2D," wasn't serious. It seems that all PETA wanted to do was bring up the issue about the skinning of racoon dogs that goes on in Japan these day, and the overall horrors of wearing fur. They don't think that Mario would kill a Tanooki hence the clever name for the page, "Mario Kills Tanooki." I mean what kind of silly person would think they were going after Mario with a title like that.
So yes, it was the gamers that simply didn't get the joke which means that PETA has nothing to apologize about nor make any changes to their statements on the "Mario Kills Tanooki" page:
"When on a mission to rescue the princess, Mario has been known to use any means necessary to defeat his enemy—even wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers.""Tanooki may be just a "suit" in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it's OK to wear fur. Play Super Tanooki Skin 2D and help Tanooki reclaim his fur!"
As is the case when you deal with fanatics like those at PETA, who still kills thousands of animals per year mind you, they don't know when they're wrong. In fact, they seem pretty happy that besmirching one of the most cherished video game characters in existence netted them some more attention to their cause.
Now if you excuse me, I'm going to take this Jesus Christ fellow and say he's a pedophile so I can get the message across that pedophilia is bad. Hope those Christians can take a joke.
