The Ultimate Fighter finalist learned first moves from Tekken
Posted on April 13, 2013 by Oscar Gonzalez

Tonight, Uriah Hall and Kelvin Gastelum will fight to decide who wins this season of the UFC’s reality show, The Ultimate Fighter. Hall has been dominating his fights so far, and in an interview with Fightland, Vice Magazine’s MMA site, he admits that his first training came from playing Tekken.

"I would play that video game [Tekken] so much, and you know, I would go into practice mode and I would have the character, the computer, just spare with me back and forth almost like regular training. And you know, I would just keep playing until I see something that I do or I like and just pick up on it. And for me, I don’t know, visually it was almost like my body adjusted to it. So when I started to spar, moves that I would see, it would just come back like that. It’s something I couldn’t explain. Everytime I would see a cool move in Tekken man, I would just practice it till I got good at it. And when I do it in training, they’d be like what the hell was that."

This season on The Ultimate Fighter, Uriah Hall has gone 4-0 with 2 KOs, 1 TKO, and 1 decision to reach the finals. His fight against Adam Cella in episode 3 had arguably the sickest KO ever seen in MMA when Hall connected with a devastating spin kick to Cella’s face:

At 185lbs, there are already talks about Hall fighting the current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Interesting enough, we reported in 2010 that Silva had claimed that he used some techniques that he saw while playing Tekken.

The finals for The Ultimate Fighter will be shown tonight at 9pm ET on FX. Whoever wins The Ultimate Fighter will receive a UFC contract.
