Breaking news: Activision is planning on releasing another Call of Duty this year. According to a statement released by Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, the publisher doesn't plan on breaking it's release trend.
"For Call of Duty, consistent with our past practies, we are planning for the mainline release in Q4 to be down versus 2012." Eric continues later on saying it's tough to predict how the year will go as 2012 was the best year for the corporation according to Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
Who will be developing the next Call of Duty though? If Activision were to stick with consistency, it would be Infinity Ward, but with internal studio problems during development of Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer Games came in to clean up the slack as Raven Software and Neversoft assisted with additional downloadable content. I'd be interested to see what Raven Software could do with the popular military franchise.
Supposedly back in October, the voice actor of Captain Price from the Modern Warfare series said he was going to work on the next game but later retracted what might have intended to be an off-the-record quote.
