The Road to Evo series has added another tournament to its lineup. Winter Brawl 7 taking place in Philadelphia, PA on Feb. 23-24 will be the fifth stop on the Road to Evo.
Announced on Shoryuken.com, one of the longer standing Northeast fighting game tournaments, Winter Brawl, will give players on the East Coast a much closer event for them to earn Evo points. Evo points give players a better seeded position in the Evo brackets, allowing for players to reduce the amount of matches by a significant amount.
Since the announcement of the Road to Evo 2013 lineup, many gamers on the East Coast have voiced their concern over the lack of an event with close proximity for those in the Northeast, primarily in New York and Pennsylvania. One of the loudest voices is Empire Arcadia’s Triforce as you can see in this video from the L.I. Joe Show:
Last year’s Road to Evo featured more than a dozen tournaments around the country, however, the Evo staff decided to reduce the amount of events that would reward Evo points. The current lineup of tournaments for the Road to Evo includes Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament 7, Northern California Regionals 2013, CEO 2013, and the Sothern California Regionals 2013 that was already held last month.
Evo 2013 will be happening at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 12-14.
