XSEED to bring more Japanese gaming goodness this Summer and Fall 2013
Posted on January 31, 2013 by MikeV

XSEED is one of the favorite localization/publishers for fans of JRPGs and other unique games that come from the land of the Rising Sun. From The Last Story to Corpse Party, they make sure to have a bit of something for everyone, and this year is no different. XSEED has planed for the Summer and Fall of 2013 five different games that fans will be excited for. The first game XSEED highlights actually came as a surpirse to some. That game is Killer is Dead. For those who don't know or remember Killer is Dead, here's a trailer:

Killer is Dead stars Mond Zappa, an executioner who wields a katana in his right hand and a weaponized cybernetic left arm. His goal is, as stated in the press release, "is to execute various heinous criminals scattered around the world and beyond." Killer is Dead is set for a Summer 2013 release on Xbox 360 and PS3.

The next game that XSEED fams will love is the fantasy brand of the Harvet Moon series, Rune Factory 4. Player take on the role of Selphia’s prince or princess and will be able to manage the village, explore the countryside, tame monsters in the wild to aid them in battle or help out in the fields and much more. Rune Factory is set for a Summer 2013 release on the 3DS. While there isn't an offical English trailer for the game yet, here's the trailer that was shown on Nintendo Japanese Direct last year:

The next game to make it way to the West thanks to XSEED is Valhalla Knights 3. The game will feature a roubust character creation system and intenst seven on seven party combat. Seven races combined with twenty job classes ensures that players will find a style fit just for them. Valhalla Knights 3 is set for a Summer 2013 release on the Vita. For those who are intrested here's the Japanese trailer for the game:

As I mentioned in my YS Seven review, you don't need to be mainstream to be popular. This is proven on two fronts. First is Ys: Memories of Celceta. Memories of Celceta is a complete reimaging of Ys IV, the only Ys game in the series to have never made it to Western shores. Thanks to being on the Vita, Memories of Celceta is able to put more enemies on the screen that ever before and boasts he largest, non-linear overworld, both never seen in the Ys series. The game is set for a Fall 2013 release on the Vita and here's the Japanese trailer for the game:

The second front is Ys I & II Chronicles+. Fans who missed out on the first Ys I & II Chronicles that came out on the PSP will have a second chance to experince the games again on Steam with enchanments made to the games. Ys I & II Chronicles+ is set to be released this Fall 2013 on Steam. There isn't a trailer for the game yet, so here's the trailer that was shown for the PSP:

Those who said that JRPGs and Japanese games are starting to go stale, clearly hasn't been looking in the right places for quality games. I am looking forward to all of these games, especally the ones for the Vita.

What do you think about EA making Star Wars games?

If they get the right studios working on the games, they can be great!
I'll wait and see what they do with the franchise.
They're going to screw it worse than George Lucas screwed up the prequels!
