Injustice: Gods Among Us special editions announced; release date

Unveiled today, the Battle & Collector's editions will offer fighting fans a change to get some extra value out of NetherRealm Studios' next title. Not only these editions were being shown off for the first time but Warner Brothers Entertainment has confirmed that the game will be coming out on April 16th here in North America and three days later in Europe. As the battle edition, seen below with the fight stick, will cost consumers $150, the collector's edition will be coming out for a penny under $100. Including what is featured within the collector's edition as is listed below, the battle edition comes with an Injustice fight stick which features light up buttons.

Included in the collector's edition is an exclusive DC Collectibles statue featuring both Batman & Wonder Woman on Superman's Fortress of Solitude and the escape ship for "Krypton's Last Son", special edition of the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic book, digital download copy of the DC animated film Justice League: Doom & three exclusive skins for Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman featuring costumes from 'the New 52'.

Available today, you can purchase a digital comic that will setup as a prequel to the game as a new issue will release for 99 cents each week until the release of the game in mid-April. Both the Playstation 3 & Xbox 360 will have these editions despite the Xbox 360 only being shown. The game will come out in a standard retail edition for the Wii U.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition and Release Date Revealed

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today revealed details for the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition. The package will be available in limited quantities at Gamestop and EB Games stores located in the United States and Canada for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition is also confirmed to be available in North America beginning April 16 for Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii U™ system from Nintendo.

The Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition will retail for $149.99 and includes the game disc, exclusive Injustice: Gods Among Us Fight Stick featuring official artwork from the game and three exclusive skins based on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman from DC COMICS – THE NEW 52. The Fight Stick is a lightweight controller that boasts a non-skid foam underside, a lockout feature for the Start, Select and Guide buttons, as well as adjustable illumination for the buttons and joystick.

Accompanying the news is an image featuring all the contents of the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition, as well as a new image showcasing the contents of the Injustice: Gods Among Us Collector’s Edition, which will be sold separately for $99.99 at various retailers throughout North America for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The Injustice: Gods Among Us Collector’s Edition available in the United States will include:

  • Exclusive DC Collectibles statue featuring iconic characters Batman and Wonder Woman, the Fortress of Solitude, and the Last Son of Krypton’s escape ship
  • Special Collector's Edition of the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic book
  • Digital download of DC Universe animated film Justice League: Doom

Also available today is the new Injustice: Gods Among Us digital comic book from DC Entertainment. The comic is a prequel to the game, and it tells the story of events leading up to a new world order where heroes face each other in an epic fight to determine humanity’s future. A new chapter of the weekly comic will be released every Tuesday for $.99, and three digital chapters will then be collected in print and available for sale monthly.
