During their conference at Tokyo Game Show, Sony confirmed that they were indeed working on a brand new SKU of the PS3. The hardware update is known as the PS3 Super Slim. The Super Slim comes in two models, the 250GB and the 500GB, both which are 25% lighter than the current PS3 Slim and 50% lighter than the "Phat" PS3. The 250GB Super Slim will launch in stores next week on the 29th and will be a part of a limited edition bundle that consist of the game of the year edition of Uncharted 3 and a $30 voucher of digital good for DUST 541. The price for the bundle will be $269.99. As for the 500GB Super Slim, it will release on October 30th, in conjunction with the release of Assassins Creed III. It will be bundled with ACIII and a 30-day PS Plus membership for $299.99
Now before there is complatints of a price hike, take into consideration that the systems are being shipped with extra content. This content increases the price of the system and which is why the prices are the way they are. For example, for the 500GB Super Slim if ACIII and the 30-day of PS Plus is taken out, the system would cost around $225 give or take some tax.
