Saving the president is going to take longer than expected for the Bad Dudes. As of last week, Pinstripe Games's kickstarter for Bad Dudes 2 didn't get enough bad dudes to fund the sequel and failed to hit their goal of $80,000. While most people who don't reach their goal would shrug their shoulders and move on to a different project, the team at Pinstripe didn't let this setback get them down.
In their first weekly update posted on their website, they talk a bit about the out come of the kickstarter and what will happen next with Bad Dudes 2. They start with explaining the reason for the kickstarter. The reason that Pinstripe went with kickstarter to fund Bad Dudes 2 was mainly for people to preorder the game so they can see if they were to be able to develop the entire game. You see the developers at Pinstripe Games have regular jobs/contracts outside the company. So trying to complete the game on such a irregular working schedule would have been a bad idea, which is why Pinstripe went to kickstarter.
In addition to the team having different working schedules, the rights to license Bad Dudes cost around $30,000. For most studios this isn't a problem, but Pinstripe is an indie studio and even if they wanted to pay for the licensing fees out of their pocket it would still have been too much for them. Which is the other reason they turned to kickstarter.
So how is not getting them down, you maybe asking? Well for starters, Bad Dudes 2 is still being developed. Pinstripe is still continuing to develop the game, though its progressing slowly. They do plan to maybe try to kickstart the project again, this time when they do they plan on having enough assets to show that Bad Dudes 2 is a game that people of all kinds will want to play.
