EVO 2K12: WW Infiltration of S. Korea wins it all in SSFIV AE 2012
Posted on July 09, 2012 by MikeV

The Grand Finals for Super Street Fight IV AE 2012 was the most interesting and hype top 8 finals of the day. For the first time in the history of EVO (at least to my knowledge) only two American players advance to top 8 and the rest of field were from various parts of Asia, including Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, and China. But once again South Korea seem to show that its a force to be reckoned with as WW Infiltration of S. Korea put on an amazing display. Infiltration blazed through top 32 beating DMG|iPeru, and BT|Dieminion. His dominance continued through the top 8 as he took down Daigo "The Beast" Umahara in surprising 2-0 upset sending him to losers finals. As he advanced to winners finals, Infiltration took out American favorite PR Balrog 2-0 to meet the other Daigo killer, GamerBee.But GamerBee's Adon was no match for Infiltration and Akuma's Raging Demon, taking Bee down 2-0 to win it all. As Seth Killian said over the stream, "On the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter, the game started out in Japan, became the home of the best players, and now today at EVO, look at the top 8, Street Fighter is now the world's game". Speaking of the top 8 here they are:

1. WW|Infiltration (Akuma)
2. AVM|GamerBee (Adon)
3. CVPR|PR Balrog (Balrog)
4. eLive|Xiaohai (Cammy)
5. MCZ|Daigo (Ryu)
5. HumanBomb (Sakura)
7. BT|Dieminion (Guile)
7. TH|Poongko (Seth)

What surprised me about the SSFIV AE 2012 tournament is that America's best SF players were all taken out. Even last year's champ Fuudo was taken out (though he did win in VF5 FR). This just goes to show that there are others out there in the world that are able to take on America's and Japan's best.
