Earlier in the week, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut endings were released for the mass of gamers clamoring for a proper ending to the game. One particular ending had many people wondering what happened to Shepard.
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the Destroy ending (red ending for those that rage over the colors), it's implied that Shepard did not die like he did in other endings. Being that this is different than the other endings where Shepard dies, many people were wondering if it was indeed true that Shepard is alive which could mean that the series could continue on. On the Bioware forums, UK Community Coordinator, Tully Ackland, confirms that Shepard is indeed alive at the end:
“You may notice that in the “Shepard lives” ending, the love interest hesitates to place Shepard’s name on the wall, and instead looks up as though deep in thought. This is meant to suggest that the love interest is not ready to believe Shepard is dead, and the final scene reveals they are correct.”
We'll see if BioWare does make this ending canon and create more content from this to continue to the story or simply leave the game alone.
