Capcom announces the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collectors Set
Posted on May 23, 2012 by OG

Street Fighter is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. 25 years of Hadoukens, Shoryuken, and KOs. 25 years of a franchise bringing together a community. And what better way to celebrate such an important series in gaming history than an Anniversary Collector's Set. And not just any collectors’ set, but the ultimate Street Fighter collectors set.

In this set fans will be getting digital versions of Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online. They will also be getting a physical copy of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken, with all of the DLC unlocked. The set will also include a two blue ray discs that contain a documentary of the series, the SF IV and SSFIV anime movies, all episodes of the Street Fighter animated series and Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. But wait, there’s more. An eight inch tall light up Ryu statue will be packaged in, an 11 disc soundtrack from the past 25 years, a 64 page hardcover art book, a full size replica of Ryu’s martial arts black belt and a certificate of authenticity. This is all packed inside a really nice decorative box.

Also in conjunction with the series’ 25th anniversary, Capcom will be holding sanctioned series of tournaments beginning July and running till December. The games used will be SF X T, SSFIV AE, Third Strike Online, and HD Remix. Here are the dates for each of the tourneys:

·         July 28-29 in Austin, TX

·         August 11-12 in the NY area (location pending)

·         August 26 in Taipei, Taiwan (location pending)

·         Mid-September in the Tokyo Region, Japan (date and location pending)

·         September 27-30 in London, England (in conjunction with Eurogamer Expo)

·         October 13-14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil (in conjunction with Brazil Game Show)

·         October 27-28 in Los Angeles, CA

·         October 31 – November 4 in Paris, France (in conjunction with Paris Games Week)

·         December 8 Finals in San Francisco, CA (including players who qualify in the prelim tourneys)

Prizes include over $500k in cash, non-cash prizes and other goodies. And the winner of the SF X T will walk away with an “all-new custom designed Scion FR-S Sports Coupe. Capcom has partnered with Scion, Five Axis and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), to create a one-of-a-kind Street Fighter-themed sports car, complete with video entertainment hardware from SCEA and a modified exterior from Five Axis including a custom FIVE:AD aero kit, spoiler, wheels, as well as many more premiere components from leading automotive aftermarket companies.”

Personally I love collectors/limited edition versions of games. Between this and the Borderlands 2 Vault Hunter edition, September is starting to look expensive. The Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collectors Set will be out September 18, and will cost around $150. But pre-order now, since these will be in limited quantities.

How has your Diablo III experience been so far?

Absolutely horrible with all the lag, Error 37s, and server downtime. Screw you Blizzard for making me wait so long for this.
Started off bad, but I've been having a lot of fun with it.
THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER!!!
They made a new Diablo?
