Rumor: Sony to shut down Zipper Interactive
Posted on March 23, 2012 by OG

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but another rumor is circulating about a publisher shutting down a franchise. In this case, it's the creator of the SOCOM franchise, Zipper Interactive, who may be shut down by Sony as reported by Kotaku. Zipper has been on a bit of a slump lately with their latest games MAG and SOCOM 4 not living to their previous successes although their game for the Vita, Unit 13, has received some fair praise. Sony purchased Zipper in 2006 after the developer had made a big splash with the SOCOM franchise on the PS2. No confirmation of this closing is available so we will have to wait and see what happens.
