Sonic 4 has been a very unique situation for Sega.  What started off with high hopes that a Sonic game going back to 2D was going to bring back to the series to all of its former glory.  Unfortunately, “fans” were upset at Sonic looking like he was too slow and that our favorite hedgehog now had green eyes.  The backlash created such a stir within Sega that Sonic 4 Episode 1 was delayed a few months to address some issues.  Back when we talked with Sega’s Associate Digital Brand Manager, Ken Balough, at E3 2010, we were told that Episode 2 would be out a few months after the release of Episode 1.  Instead of Episode 2, we got Sonic Generations that did quite well with the critics and fans.  Today, finally, we get a trailer for Episode 2.  Although there’s no gameplay, it is implied – more like blatantly shoving it in your face – that Metal Sonic and Tails will be in this game.  Maybe the Sonic series is getting that comeback that fans were hoping for if Episode 2 does just as well as Sonic 4 Episode 1 and Sonic Generations.
