As the closed beta is underway, Blizzard made an announcement regarding the highly anticipated dungeon crawler Diablo III. That announcement is one all too familar with Blizzard fans: the game has been pushed to early 2012. Blizard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime gives an explation for the move in the press release:
“With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn't put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready. The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we're taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players. Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers.”
This is shouldn't be too much of a suprise for fans as this same thing has been said about the last two WoW expansions and Starcraf II. Fans been waiting this long so what's another few months? Besides, moving the release date from this Fall/Winter to early 2012 is a smart thing that many developers are doing since the next few months will be full of blockbuster hits all viling for the customer's hard earn cash.
