Nintendo announces Flame Red 3DS
Posted on August 11, 2011 by MikeV
In the last post I meantioned that Nintendo will be releasing a Flame Red 3DS. The have sent out a press release giving more details about the new color scheme. The Flame Red 3DS will be launching September 9, which is also the same day that Star Fox 64 3D will be released.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime says:

Nintendo 3DS is poised to be on fire for the holidays, with its new suggested retail price, great games and our new Flame Red color. With major upcoming releases in the Star Fox, Pokmon and Mario series, in addition to downloadable offerings from Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Video and Netflix, the system offers new and fun experiences to owners on a daily basis.

3rd party developers, like Ubisoft have good things to say about the 3DS. Laurent Detoc, President, North America, Ubisoft had this to say about the 3DS:

"Nintendo 3DS is an amazing piece of technology that offers players incredible 3D games without the need for special glasses. Beyond that, it’s an affordable dedicated gaming machine. Simply put, Nintendo 3DS is a fabulous device. Ubisoft has been a big supporter of Nintendo 3DS since the beginning with eight Nintendo 3DS games released to date and another eight games coming out before the end of calendar year 2011."

Even retailers have commented about the 3DS. Target's vice president of Merchandising, Nik Nayar said:

The new, lower Nintendo 3DS price combined with a hot new color and big-name games will entice even more Target guests to get their hands on this first-of-its-kind 3D gaming experience."

While GameStop President Tony Bartel had this to say: GameStop customers were excited about the Nintendo 3DS launch, and this lower price point should spark additional demand. With a solid back-half game lineup, the Nintendo 3DS price drop is well timed to drive consumer interest and purchases through the holiday season.

Other than that there's nothing else everyone already knows: tonight is the last day for logging on for the 3DS Ambassador program, Star Fox 64 3DS comes out next month, Super Mario 3DS is set for a November release and Mario Kart 7 for a December release.

What do you think about EA making Star Wars games?

If they get the right studios working on the games, they can be great!
I'll wait and see what they do with the franchise.
They're going to screw it worse than George Lucas screwed up the prequels!
