Viscant is the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Evo Champion. Besting more than 1000 competitors, San Diego's Jay "Viscant" Snyder defeated Eduardo "Puerto Rico Balrog" Perez in the Grand Final with the team of Wesker, Haggar, and Phoenix. PR Balrog won the first set (best of 5) against Viscant in dramatic fashion with the crowd going wild when PR Balrog had to defeat Viscant's Haggar and Phoenix(who was Dark Phoenix at this time) with just Tron Bonne. Being in the loser's bracket, PR Balrog would need to win a second set against Viscant, but in that second set, Viscant won three games in a row.
What could be considered the biggest upset of the day, PR Balrog gave Justin Wong his final loss putting him in 3rd place. Wong had won Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournaments across the country with ease, but not only did PR Balrog defeat Wong, he did it was a perfect that is simply unheard of to do against someone of the caliber of Wong. The top 8 also had some bittersweet matches when Complexity Cross Counter's Peter "Combofiend" Rosas defeated his teammate Ryan "Filipino Champ" Ramirez. Justin Wong also swallowed a bitter pill by having to eliminate his friend Noel Brown. Something of interest were the boos coming from the crowd when players selected Phoenix on their team. Many fans have been resenting Phoenix as of late with how often she's been used and how powerful she is when she changes into Dark Phoenix.
