Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts Review
Posted on January 28, 2009 by Original-Gamer.com

I first heard of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, at the start of 2008. I grew up with the game on the N64 so it seemed obvious that this was a must buy for me. Well I bought it and let's just say it was no where near what I expected, and it's created a nasty smear on my childhood memory.

The story starts with Banjo and Kazooie being fat and out of shape, and the evil witch, Grunty, is back. Randomly Banjo and Kazooie get into shape and go after her. The game changes directions and turns into a game about building vehicles. Wait, wait, WHAT?! There's really no story to the game. But like the originals it has to have good game play. It just has to or more childhood memories will be destroyed.

Well wrong again. The game play is building vehicles and racing, that's it. Now I'm a little confused because the first two games were platform games with big worlds to explore, tons of platform puzzles, and overall lots of fun. Well, it still has the worlds but it has no charm to it. The biggest problem is having no platforming this game. You might have well called it "Lego Presents 'Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts Lego Racer'." The controls are fine but the game feels weird. Hell I feel weird just playing it. I can't believe Rare slapped the Banjo name on this game.

The visuals are alright though. They look smooth and cartoon like which is okay to look at but it's not anything special. Some of the worlds look good and others look less than good. There's some nice lighting and contrast. However, there's nothing else to say to try and liven up this aspect of the game. It's neither creative nor new. The sound in this game is just piss poor. They didn't give voice acting lessons to any actors voicing the characters in the game. Except the computer thing, and who wants to listen to that robotic douche? The sound effects are goofy and stupid and even the soundtrack sounded played out and boring this time around.

Well there's some multiplayer racing for online but who honestly is going to play this online? Little kids because no gamer of age who loved the original game is going to spend their time online with 8 year old who are playing this game because they saw the cute bear on the cover. Well that's all I have to say really, There's no reason to replay this or play through it for the first time.

Overall this game isn't anything like it should have been, Theres no platform gaming, real enemies to fight, and it's not fun. Rare sold out and slapped the Banjo & Kazooie name on this Lego racer pile of crap. Maybe it's just my opinion but I really don't like this game, Its disrespect to a franchise that brought me into the gaming world.

What do you think about EA making Star Wars games?

If they get the right studios working on the games, they can be great!
I'll wait and see what they do with the franchise.
They're going to screw it worse than George Lucas screwed up the prequels!
