Jak 3 Review
Posted on January 27, 2009 by Original-Gamer.com

Jak 3 has to be one of the best games on the PS2. It was the first game I owned on the system and I love the game so much, as well as the series. Jak and Daxter are two loveable buddies who have been through allot together. Daxter, once human (or whatever) fell into a dark liquid known as Dark Eco and was transformed into a cross between an otter and a weasel,he was turned into an ottsel. Jak was silent all through the first game but broke his silence after being tortured and injected with the Dark Eco himself. Now for the third adventure where both heroes are in for one last adventure and they hope to purify themselves and the world.

Jak 3 starts in the desert where Jak is dumped off, exiled from the great Haven city for crimes he didn't commit. Daxter and the strange monkey bird, Pecker decides to follow Jak and their struggle to get to safety begins. Jak is saved by people from the city of Spargus. Jak sets out on his adventure to help the people of Spargus and return to Haven city to clear his name. Jak and Daxter stumble upon bigger things in this adventure and this game has to have some of the most epic and climactic plot twists ever. Plot holes are stitched up, the game ends the trilogy very well. This game has to have one of my favorite stories in all video game history.

Playing as Jak is very fun. He wields kick ass guns with extra mods for different firing states. The controls are basic and pretty much the same as previous games. No new gimmicks here, except for vehicles. The numerous vehicles in this game defiantly add to the experience. Jumping over large areas of desert, thrashing bounty hunters, launching off missiles, and shredding away at the machine gun in the cars are the many different things the vehicles can do and you'll most likely find a favorite. Dark Jak returns with new powers but I won't spoil anything. Light Jak is a new form with lots of new powers such as flight and time control. Mastering these new powers won't take long and you'll feel right at home if you're a newbie to the series or a veteran.

The graphics are great for the PS2.In Jak 3 there are even more explosions, particles, and funny character models. The animations are smooth and it actually looks natural, when Jak's fist isn't enlarged due to Naughty Dog's strange preferences. The voice acting is great as always and some very funny lines are delivered by Max Casella, the voice of Daxter. The sound track and sound effects is spot on and really does take the Jak series and end it on one sweet note.

Playing the game over doesn't really have its benefits. You'll want to collect all the precursor items and unlock all the cheats but you could do that your first time around. The Hero mode is the really only extra thing here, you can play through the game with all your weapons, health, etc. The enemies are harder on this difficulty though. The extra content such as the cinemas and artwork are great things to keep Jak fans happy.

Jak 3 takes all the good things about the previous two games and improves on it. The end is satisfying and the humor in the game will please all fans and newcomers. The game is fun to play through and the story is well done. Great voice acting and writing will pull on your heart strings a few times in the game and the jokes will make you laugh, hard. It's a must own if you have a PS2 or backwards compatible PS3.

What do you think about EA making Star Wars games?

If they get the right studios working on the games, they can be great!
I'll wait and see what they do with the franchise.
They're going to screw it worse than George Lucas screwed up the prequels!
