Square Enix Announces U.S. Release Date for Kingdom Heart RE: Coded
Posted on October 07, 2010 by MikeV

After showing it off at E3, PAX and TGS, Square Enix has finally announced the release date for the newest Kingdom Hearts game, Kingdom Heart RE: Coded for the Nintendo DS systems. For those who might not know, RE: Coded is the port of the Japanese cellphone game Kingdom Hearts Coded.

This new entry to the series takes place right after Kingdom Hearts II as Jiminy, King Mickey, Donald and Goofy examine the travel journal that Jiminy used to document their travels with Sora. They find that there are two entries that he didn’t write; one being "Thank Namin" and the other "We must return to free them from their torment." Curious about the message, King Mickey has the journal digitized to investigate the meaning of the cryptic messages using a digital version of Sora.

Kingdom Hearts RE: Coded includes new features that were not found in the original cellphone game which are the following:

- Classic KINGDOM HEARTS gameplay with innovative twists: All-new features include a new character growth system created specifically for the Nintendo DS release, building on the series’ immersive blend of action and role-playing elements.

- An assortment of diverse and entertaining boss battles: Guide Sora like never before through boss battles inspired by side-scrolling, shooting and classic FINAL FANTASY games.

- Endless possibilities in the Avatar Menu: Players can design their own avatar using over 800 unlockable parts and trade playable maps with friends.

Players can experience this new journey and unveil the secrets inside Jiminy’s journal next year on January 11, 2011 for the Nintendo DS system for $34.99.

What did you think of the Xbox One reveal?

It was awesome! I already have one pre-ordered!!
It could have been better, but I think there's potential.
Microsoft needs to get their shit together before I buy this thing.
This piece of junk is going to fail faster than Windows ME.
