PS3: Resistance 2 Review

How's it going viewers? Harlem's back and I'm ready to review another game. This time it's on the monster sequel to Resistance, Resistance 2.

This game picks up right where the first left off and move it ahead two years later. The story still centers around Nathan Hale as he's moved to America where he joins a team of elite soldiers who have also been infected but with the help of a serum injected into their system, keeps the infection from taking over them. The game puts you right into the action, getting a feel of the game. The control scheme has changed a little bit but not too much to where it confuses gamers.

There are some notable changes in the game. The major one is that now you can only carry two weapons at a time. So no more lugging all those guns around in a mysterious invisble bag. The game tries to keep it as realistic as possible. Another change is the Chimera. The originals take a lot more damage to go down, and that's because they have evolved. And they brought the big boys with them. All new types of Chimera will keep you on your toes, including a kraken and a Chimera that as big as the buildings of Chicago. And the A.I. of the Chimera has advanced too. So in order ti combat that, Hale came in with some new weapons. One such weapon is a chain gun to handle multitudes of Chimera. And if it gets to much, it's secondary mode is a shield that can help Hale mow them down. Of course the old weapons have some upgrades to them as well. The Auger can now show you exactly where the enemy is by allowing you to see through walls. It even allows for headshots.

The co-op mode has a uniqueness to it. It doesn't really tie into the story to much but it does graze it. You're given a series of missions to complete. The more you complete, the more you unlock. You get your choice of four types of classes to use, and each one has its unique advantage and disadvantage. Now just because you have a friend with you, doesn't mean it's cake and ice cream. The missions are just as hard as the single campaign. It's still fun to go through.

Now the online play is what really didn't appeal to me. Don't get me wrong, 60 men matches are great, but it just doesn't have the same feel as the original. I guess it's because 60 people don't all get on a map at the same time. It kind of has a COD feel to it. Before a match begins you have to choose a style of weaponary for yourself. Each time you die, you're allowed to change that style. Not the greatest especially for those that live off the series.

Overrall, the gameplay is great, replay value is high. Awesome game!!! Now if you don't have it, GO AND GET IT!!!! Til next time, I'm out.

Score - 9.0/10.0

- Harlem

O.G.'s take: Harlem hit on all the important spots regarding Resistance 2. What I enjoy was the game took it to another level regarding the graphics. The game brings into the fold a bigger scale of fighting were it really feels like a war. And not just a regular war, but a sci-fi war filled with giant robots. As Harlem stated, online is there and offers a lot, but the big team battles are king of mind numbing.

Score - 9.1/10.0
