PC: Resident Evil Review

Next is the PC version. Now this version is something special, because it is the only way to see the full colored and uncensored intro in an actual ingame setting in the US. Various mods can also enhance the game with new characters, if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Graphics: The PC version benefits from smoother textures and better character models than any version of the original. The best looking version definitely.

Sound: The music is the same, but the sound effects are replayed at higher fidelity, making the awful voice acting louder and clearer than ever. I'll leave that to you to decide if that is a good or bad thing...

Controls are where the PC version sucks. There are far too many keys to comfortably play this game, and I was not able to get a gamepad working. If such drivers are available somewhere, I can imagine that the control would be about equal to the console version.

In gameplay terms, everything is identical; the uncensored intro is the only real change. Chris and Jill do have two unique weapons in this version; the Ingram pistol for Jill and the MAC11 for Chris. They are fun to mess around with, especially due to the unlimited ammo, but I prefer the Colt Python any day, especially against the Python... Yawn, heh.
