Verizon to offer 26 cable channels in next week's XBox 360 dashboard update
Posted on November 29, 2011 by MikeV

In preparation for the X-Box 360 dashboard update, Verizon has announced today how their FiOS TV service will work and a line up of its first 26 channels that will be made available to their subscribers and special promotions targeted at 360 owners. In addition to these initial 26 channels, subs to premium channels like HBO and Cinemax will be able to access live and on demand content through a separate partnership between Microsoft and HBO. Here are the initial channels that Verizon will be offering, both in HD and SD:

HD Channels

  • BET
  • Cinemax
  • CNN
  • Comedy Central
  • ESPNews
  • Food Network
  • HBO 2
  • HBO
  • HGTV
  • MTV
  • Nickelodeon
  • Spike
  • TBS
  • TNT
  • Travel Channel
  • truTV
  • VH1

SD Channels

  • Boomerang
  • Cartoon Network
  • DIY
  • Hallmark Channel
  • HLN
  • MTV2
  • Nick Jr
  • TCM
  • TV Land

For those who are interested in the up coming service, Verizon will be offering a triple play pack (phone, cable and internet) for $90 a month, a free copy of Halo Anniversary and a one year Gold subscription. So far, to my knowledge at least, Verizon is the only cable service provider that has laid out any type of plan for TV services on the 360. It will be interesting to see how companies like AT&T and Time Warner will respond with their own bundle.
