Too human was announced at E3 1999 for the Playstation but was moved to the Gamecube in 2000 and eventually sold to Microsoft in 2005. Almost 10 years of development was it worth it? Or did we wait almost a decade to be disappointed?
Well to start is the story and its based off Norse mythology you take control of the god Odin and it is his duty to protect the human race from an onslaught of advanced robotic waves that are determined to end all human life. There is another world called Cyberspace that they accessed through technology built by the human gods. The gods use cybernetic implants to have more abilities; it also makes them more machine-like.
The gameplay in Too Human is unique you use the right stick to do melee attacks and the trigger for guns. There are multiple classes which all seem to be useless except the middle class. On my playthrough I picked the strong melee attacker thinking that it would be a good idea. Well, guess again. The melee attacker is useless against bosses and bigger or stronger enemies. With a lack of health you will always find yourself preying for an enemy to drop a health pack which is rare when you actually need it. Now let's talk camera angles cause this is where Too Human fails on an epic level. You would assume you can move it with the right stick right? Well that's not happening because you use the right stick to attack. Basically you have no control over the camera angle except with a button that centers it which doesn't help much. You still get to collect armor and weapons but they just fall out randomly you never earn them. That's basically all I have to say.
Graphics are standard, character models have good detail and the environments in cyberspace look really cool but the normal environments and enemies look really bland after a while and I get sick of looking at them fast. As for sound I really like the voice acting but the sound effects are just standard nothing to complain about but nothing to praise either.
There is a little co-op in Too Human but I haven't been bothered to try it and nothing great has been said about it anyway. The game itself can last long or be very short. In reality it's an 8 hour game. Though its price is 24.99 at Gamestop/EB so I can kind of recommend it if you like action RPG type games and don't expect much cause its nothing amazing but its still a solid experience.
